And yet. . . “I’d like to see some real punks in here, like street punks,” remarked Creative DirectorGrace Coddington upon reaching the red carpet and encountering a dearth of, for instance, trash-bag dresses ascending the steps to the museum. “They probably weren't invited.” Once inside the Temple of Dendur, images of snarling pit bulls were projected onscreen prior toKanye West’s set, and it quickly became clear that something else was missing from the festivities too. So Coddington sketched her own favorite pieces that didn’t make an appearance at the ball—and, naturally, she drew them on a small litter of cats. From DIY dresses to beauty tips (this is the occasion to cultivate that feral look, kittens!), here are her head-to-tail looks fit for rebel felines everywhere.
